No doubt exercise is a great way to keep yourself in good shape and health. But exercise may also cause injuries which can be quiet minor or might require medical attention. But if you follow some basic guideline you can avoid injuries and have enjoyable workout.
1. Know Your Limitations
Make sure that there are no medical complications that might contraindicate your participation in an exercise program or performing specific exercises. Always speak to your doctor first before starting any new exercise program. You can increase your intensity of the workouts on your body when you have a better idea as to how far you can go with out causing any harm to your body.
2. Warm-Up and cool down
These are the most important, and most neglected, components of a workout. A sufficient warm-up should consist of light cardiovascular exercise and stretching movements. In combination, these will help to thoroughly ready your body for vigorous exercise. Don't finish your workout session abruptly, end it by doing gentle exercise called as cool down period. This prevents blood to pool in your leg veins, which can leave you feeling dizzy and faint. So always start your exercise with warm-up and finish it with cool down
3. Working out different muscle groups
By utilizing different muscles in exercise performance, your body is alleviated from receiving continual impact, significantly reducing the likelihood of injury.
4. Techniques
Always Be in Control. Never twist, jerk or bounce in your maneuver. Use the correct technique of performing a particular exercise and using a gym equipment. Learn about the risks of any new activity before you begin. Do not try to take on too much stress too early in the training process. Focus on attaining better positions rather than making your workouts more intense.
5. Fluid intake
Make sure to eat a carbohydrate-oriented food between one to three hours before your workout to ensure adequate energy resources. Moreover, since your body can become dehydrated before you become thirsty, it is important to sip water frequently throughout training. this will prevent nausea, dizziness and fatigue during your workout,
6. Fitness gears
Wear Safety gears such as fitness shoes, belts, helmets etc should be used during workouts as needed. These can be found easily at a sports equipment store. A good quality gear may help you in avoiding injuries such as sprains etc. Proper fitness cloths can help you in performing to your optimum potential. These must be ideal fitting, and, should be of fabric that absorbs sweat, like cotton.
Pay attention to your body's signals, such as pain and fatigue and don't try to ignore them by continuing your exercise. Pain is protective in nature so whenever it is present its might be a sign of injury, so Stop your workout.
